TIt is one of the indispensable dishes of Turkish cuisine. Here are the ingredients and how to make it:


2 cups of rice

3 glasses of water

2 tablespoons butter or olive oil

1 small onion, chopped

1 teaspoon salt


Wash and drain the rice. Soak in hot water for 30 minutes.

Put the butter or olive oil in a saucepan and melt it. Add the onions and fry them.

Add the rice to the pot and continue frying, for about 5 minutes.

Add 3 cups of water to the pot and add the salt. Mix.

Bring the rice to a boil over high heat and do not stir until the water has evaporated.

When the water is drawn, lower the stove and close the lid of the pot.

Cook the bottom of the pilaf on low heat for about 20 more minutes.

Turn off the stove and let the rice rest in the pot for another 10 minutes.

Transfer the pilaf to a serving plate and serve hot.
