1 cup of red lentils
1/2 cup of bulgur
1 large onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
1 tablespoon of chili paste
1 tablespoon of dried mint
1 tablespoon of red pepper
6 cups chicken or vegetable stock
Salt and pepper
Lemon slices and parsley leaves (for serving)
. Step 1: Let's Get Started Now
Wash the lentils and put them in a saucepan. Add 3 cups of water to it and cook on medium heat until soft.
Wash and drain the bulgur. Put it in a separate pot and add 3 glasses of water to it. Cook the bulgur until it is soft.
Chop the onions and put them in a saucepan with the butter or olive oil. Fry the onions until they turn transparent.
Add the tomato and pepper paste and mix for a few minutes.
Add the red pepper, dried mint, salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Add the chicken or vegetable stock to the pot. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.
Add the lentils and bulgur to the pot. Stir and cook for another 10 minutes.
Serve hot and sprinkle with lemon wedges and parsley leaves.
